Short Story and Novella Secrets
Dates: December 3 - 14, 2007
Instructor: Sherry Morris, Editor, The Wild Rose Press
Cost: FREE to FTHRW
members; $15.00 for all others
Registration Deadline: November 28, 2007
Course Description:
Tired of the form rejections to your query letters? Wish
you had some writing credentials to signal New York editors
and agents you are a competent writer? Are neighbors and family
members rolling their eyes at you when they ask for the umpteenth
time "Aren't you published yet?"
Shh...there is a way to earn publishing credentials so the
editors and agents will start requesting your manuscripts.
Just write a memorable short story or novella and sell it
to an eBook publisher.
Learn the inside scoop on ePublishers. You can take that
hopelessly stuck work-in-progress and shape it into an exciting
short story. Don't have one? No fear. Learn techniques for
conjuring great plots. You'll be guided through your sagging
middles and learn what to leave out and always include. By
the end of the three week course, students will have completed
at least the first draft of a short story and know which markets
to submit it to. This is an excellent method for gaining publication
credit while waiting for your novel to be discovered.
About the Instructor:
As an at-home-mom with too much time alone while the kids
are at school, Sherry Morris has been writing since the turn
of the century. She sold the first short fiction she ever
wrote. The second story sold literally overnight. A dozen
short stories, novellas and novels later, she's sold every
tale she's ever written. Sherry is a member of the Virginia
Romance Writers and an experienced romance editor and workshop
presenter. She writes mainstream romance under her own name
and the steamy stuff as Sammie Jo Moresca.
