Course Description:
Ever thought of writing books for teens? Young Adult (YA) fiction is a hot market, and many authors alternate their novel writing work for adults with YA.
As vibrant as the teen book market is, there are some skills you'll need to pick up to be a successful YA fiction writer. This two-week workshop will cover:
1. YA: The Ins and Outs, Dos and Don'ts: understanding the rules of teen fiction.
2. It's All About Voice: how to capture your unique YA voice.
3. Concepts and Plots: Finding a great idea and creating a plot that suits the YA market
4. YA Checklist and book recommendations.
At the end of this workshop, participants will have a YA book concept, logline, and outline, ready to begin writing their YA novel manuscript.
About the Instructor:
Dozens of Fleur Bradley's short stories have appeared online and in print. She keeps a blog on current trends in YA fiction, YA Sleuth: http://yasleuth.blogspot.com/. She's completed a YA suspense novel that her agent is currently submitting to major publishing houses.
